The reactions of the actors in some scenes are spontaneous. For example, when the children first enter the Chocolate Room and see the candy gardens, their reactions are real, it was really their first view of that particular set.

The Shining (1980)
This. Is. Incredible.
This blog is a must-follow for any film fans. Fantastic stuff.
I tried watching The Shining with my friends in high school. We were all too scared so we turned it off after the first half, but the parts I saw really messed me up for awhile. I kept imagining that lady slowly opening the shower curtain every time I went into a bathroom. That movie disturbed me in a way I couldn’t even explain. I am always fascinated by how horror movies affect me, though I’ve seen very few. My favorite thing is when a friend sees a scary movie and then tells me about it. I get scared just hearing about it, and it’s a cheap thrill.
My friend, looking at my bruises from donating plasma: “You look like a heroin addict.”
Me: “I know, I kind of like the attention.”

Oh, Sally. All you wanted was a nice evening out with your dad and his cool, sophisticated friends. Roger is the WORST date.
